Scott Picard, a Year 11 student from Onslow College, recently took home the top prize at the Ngā Manu Kōrero national finals in Whanganui. This prestigious speech competition for secondary students promotes fluency in both te reo Māori and English.

A Clean Sweep of the Awards

Scott competed in the Korimako (Senior English) section, winning first place overall. His outstanding performance also earned him the awards for Best Prepared Speech and Best Male Speaker. This national victory follows his first-place win at the regional Ngā Manu Kōrero competition in Te Whanganui-a-Tara back in May.

This is a phenomenal achievement for Scott, and the entire Onslow College community is incredibly proud of his success. We extend a huge thank you to all the staff, whānau, and students who supported Scott and the team on their journey to the competition.
