Casual Vacancy for a Parent Representative on the School Board
Kia ora e te whānau,
This notice is to inform our school community that a casual vacancy has occurred on our school board for an elected parent representative.
A valued member has stepped down before the end of their term, and the board has formally resolved to fill this vacancy by selection, as provided for in the Education and Training Act 2020.
Filling the vacancy by selection allows the board to appoint a suitable person to serve until the mid term elections (approximately October/November 2026), ensuring stability and continuity in our school's governance.
Requesting a By-Election
While the board has decided to fill the vacancy by selection, our community has the right to request a by-election.
If 10% or more of eligible voters on the school roll ask the board to hold a by-election to fill the vacancy, then a by-election will be held.
Any requests for a by-election must be sent in writing to:
Onslow College Board
by email: boardsecretary@onslow.school.nz or
by post: Private Bag 13906, Johnsonville, Wellington 6440
Requests must be received by the board no later than 4:00 pm on Monday, 8 September 2025 (which is 28 days from the date of this notice, August 11, 2025).
If you support the board's decision to fill the vacancy by selection, you do not need to do anything.
We appreciate your continued support as we work to maintain a strong and effective board for the benefit of all our ākonga. Should you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact the board via the email address above.
Ngā mihi,

Parent Help in the Library - can you help?
There is a small group of parents who volunteer in the Onslow College Library for 25 minutes during the morning tea break each day. This allows the library staff to go to morning tea with the rest of the staff. We are currently looking for more people to join our group of volunteers. Can you help? Could you cover the 25 min slot one morning a fortnight? Or, if you are really keen you are welcome to help out weekly! If you would like to help in the Library or you have any questions, I would love to hear from you. Please email stacey.ruscoe@gmail.com or phone me on 0272481674.Thanks very much.Stacey RuscoeOnslow College PTA Library Co-ordinator
