Onslow Sport Wrap up – 20th November

A massive congratulations to Sahana Sambhus (Year 10) who dominated the College Sport Wellington Junior Tennis Tournament, winning the Gold draw and dropping only four games in the entire competition, including a decisive 4-0, 4-2 victory in the finals. In other events, the school proudly fielded its first-ever team in the CSW Junior Touch tournament. Furthermore, Brodie Major (Year 9) and Alby Winton (Year 9) delivered a strong performance, securing third place overall in the CSW Junior Bowls tournament. We also have teams competing in the Lower North Island Secondary Schools Junior Boys Cricket tournament and the Volleyball NZ Satellite North Island Junior Secondary Schools Indoor Champs this week.

In Summary:

  • Tennis  – Sahana Sambhus (Year 10) Won the College Sport Wellington Junior Tennis Tournament! Sahana participated in the CSW Tennis Junior Championship and won the Gold (Top ) draw, dropping just four games in total in the tournament. In the finals, she beat her opponent 4-0 4-2 to win the title. 
  • College Sport Wellington Junior Touch tournament was on Friday – it’s the first time we have ever sent a Touch team to this tournament – it was a great day!
  • The OC Junior Boys cricket team competed in the Lower North Island Secondary Schools Junior boys Cricket tournament in Horowhenua this week
  • College Sport Wellington Junior Bowls tournament was on Tuesday. Junior Pair, Brodie Major & Alby Winton came third overall, great effort boys!
  • Volleyball NZ Satellite North Island Junior Secondary Schools Indoor Champs is held this week at Te Rauparaha Arena, Porirua. Onslow have entered both a Junior Boys and Girls team.
