What a wonderful celebration of our Māori Rangatahi Leavers last night, Wednesday 22nd October. Their kaiako-māori, deans, ako teachers, SLT members and teachers, who all knew them so well, shared stories with their whānau present. They were then presented with a pounamu and a meaningful, personalised Whakataukī (Māori proverb) to take with them. It was a celebration of rangatahi and whānau journey through the school together. Our Kapa haka, Te Whānau a Tarikākā, and their tutors serenaded us all while we ate the delicious shared kai tea. There were also amazing haka to the tuakana of Kapahaka performed by the teina.
He poroporoaki reka kawga ki te hunga katoa e neke atu ana i Onslow
A bitter sweet farewell to all those moving on from Onslow
