Principal’s Message

Nau Mai Haere Mai,

As Acting Principal of Onslow College, I am delighted to extend a warm welcome to our community. Onslow College prides itself on providing an exceptional educational environment, where every student is empowered to achieve their full potential and grow into confident, and valued members of Aotearoa, New Zealand.

Our school is built upon a strong set of values that are the foundation of everything we do:

  • MANAAKITANGA: We believe in nurturing and treating each other with respect and generosity. This ethos fosters a supportive and caring environment where all students feel valued.

  • PURSUING GROWTH: We are committed to fostering a culture where everyone strives to grow and achieve together. We encourage our students to consistently pursue their goals with determination and to embrace the concept of lifelong learning.

  • WHANAUNGATANGA: We place immense importance on valuing and growing relationships. We take the time to truly know each other, ensuring that everyone in our community feels safe, supported, and empowered to thrive.

  • VALUING DIVERSITY: Onslow College is a place where we are inclusive and respectful of all the many ways of being that make us who we are as unique individuals and as a community. Our diversity is our strength.

  • KAITIAKITANGA: We recognise our responsibilities to protect and look after our environments and the things that we value. This commitment extends to supporting the wellbeing of our own and our wider community.

These values underpin our commitment to both academic excellence and holistic development. While we are proud to be consistently ranked among the top schools in New Zealand for academic achievement, we also celebrate the invaluable learning that occurs beyond the classroom. Our extensive pastoral care network, coupled with a wide range of sporting and cultural activities, ensures that students have every opportunity to develop their individual strengths and identities.

Onslow College has a long tradition of student empowerment and voice, and this continues to be a strength of our kura. Our student leadership structure provides a range of opportunities for students to lead, to contribute positively to the local and wider community and recognise their actions and voice have the potential to effect change.

We deeply value and encourage a strong partnership with whānau to support success for your child throughout their time with us. By collaborating and building strong relationships, we can together ensure students enjoy their learning and develop clear pathways for their future so that when they leave Onslow College they are able to thrive and realise their aspirations.

We welcome new enrolments and inquiries about the college. If you would like any further information, please do not hesitate to contact us.

Ngā mihi

Jono Wyeth
