Kia ora e te whānau,
This week is Purple Power Week at Onslow, a student-led week to celebrate feminism, gender equality and a chance to donate goods to Women’s Refuge. Events and activities have included a confidence workshop, a Kahoot in Ako time, a market day and Mr Whippy, and a range of speakers to empower, encourage and celebrate what feminism means to the student community.
It’s also Library Week – the school is very lucky to have award winning author Mandy Hager visiting on Friday. She’s speaking to English classes across spells 2 & 3 in the Library.
NCEA Information Evening for Year 10 parents and whānau An information evening is being held on Tuesday 13th August at 5.30-6.30pm in the hall. Property Updates On the Website We are committed to keeping you informed about the Onslow College Property. Onslow now has a dedicated page on our website for all our property updates. We will endeavour to update the page regularly with news and any images as the projects develop. Those in the community will have seen construction has started for the development of the new bus bay and new bus entry. We are excited for this project as it will take vehicles away from the recreation areas of the school, ultimately creating a safer space for our tauira.

Student Leadership 2025 After a successful Student Leadership afternoon in Week 1, we are now going through the process of selecting students who applied for Kākā Tangi Haeata in 2025. They will be informed of the outcome over the next week.
Wellington Tertiary Open Day August 23rd – Wellington tertiary providers and training organisations are hosting a range of open days on Friday 23rd August. This is a great opportunity for students to have a look at different providers and research what, and where, they may like to do future study or training. Students need to register directly with the providers and make their own way to and from the events. Parents/caregivers must advise their student’s attendance on SchoolBridge to record a justified absence.
Please reach out to me or any of the Senior Leadership Team if you have any questions.
Nga mihi nui,
Sheena Millar
