On Friday 14th August, our Year 10s, 11s, and a few lucky seniors were treated to a fun and engaging visit from poet Te Kahu Rolleston.
Te Kahu performed some of his latest work before running a hands-on writing workshop. A huge shoutout to the brave students who stepped up to share their own writing on the spot. Te Kahu even performed some incredible freestyle raps inspired by topics suggested by the room. Everyone was engaged and loved the energy Te Kahu brought to the room!

Te Kahu Rolleston (Ngāi Te Rangi) is a spoken word poet and educator from Tauranga. He has been called ‘The Taniwha of Slam Poetry’. His work often honours his ancestors, the land, and the ongoing Māori struggles for Tino Rangatiratanga and socio-economic betterment. ( Read NZ website)
